Stiletto and a Suitcase

We are sending a big aloha, hola, bonjour and hello over to fellow blogger Michelle Schoser. Recently, Michelle has started the blog Stilettos & a Suitcase combining her professional passion for makeup and her private love for traveling. See below what it is all about. Keep it up Michelle!

Makeup Artist By Day, Travel Writer By Night!

After 10 years as a successful Freelance Makeup Artist and a goal oriented leader building businesses and teams with MAC Cosmetics, in 2008, Stilettos And A Suitcase was created as a hybrid concept extension of both my passion for Makeup and my love of writing about Travel experiences. Traveling for both work, adventure and pleasure has been something that I truly enjoy and want to share as much as I can with others.  Artistry in general has fueled my inner being and having the ability to do it by making others feel beautiful to build that outer confidence as a Makeup Artist is the best part of my job!  As a frequent business traveler in the Cosmetics Industry and veteran Makeup Artist, there is a constant hustle and bustle of getting from a variety of travel destinations, helping people look their best and having your own style on point while you are on the go.  After 20 years of professional makeup artistry experience ranging from celebrities to bridal clients and 10 years as a Travel Writer, I do believe in working hard and having fun both personally and professionally. The world is a big place, so why not see it doing something you love!

Stilettos And A Suitcase is not only a place to book your Makeup Artistry and Stylist needs, it is a place for the latest information on travel, food, drinks, culture, fashion and beauty.  Please click the contact page for any questions or use our chat function to have your Makeup and Travel needs met!

With Love,
Michelle xo

Wedding Registry

On 29 September 2012, Michelle Schoser and Ben Davis got married.

As a source of inspiration for wedding gifts Michelle and Ben created an online gift registry at Crate & Barrel. Their family and friends could choose among a wide variety of household items and order them instantly online.

Some of the less conventional items include an Italian Chrome pasta maker cranking out fresh homemade paste in minutes, an authentic Mexican molcajete handcarved of natural volcanic stone and a Cuisinart griddler with five separate cooking options handling everything from pancakes and sauces to steaks and burgers to grilled cheese and panini.

Nearly all their wishes seem to have been fulfilled. Hence, probably well worth paying a visit to Michelle and Ben around diner time.

Jetsetting

Who hasn't envied travel journalists writing about distant destinations?

Michelle Schoser has made that dream come true. She occasionally writes for the online Jetsetters Magazine offering 'everything under one Internet roof you need for planning your dream vacation'.

Michelle has featured articles about stunning places such as Bali, Fiji, Nicaragua and Hawaii. Her reports give ideas on how to discover these places and their inhabitants.

Other articles cover the San Diego area where Michelle could find dream places to write about right on her doorstep.

Entrepreneurial spirit

To earn a living Schosers seem to like to run their own business. In some cases, the business has been run by several Schoser generations.
Rainer Schoser owns and manages a ropeyard in Burladingen founded by his grand-father Eugen Schoser back in 1932. What, at first sight, looks like a rather old-fashioned business is in fact a pretty up-to-date economic activity since steel ropes and related technology are essentiel tools in particular in the building industry.
Also in Burladingen, Willi Schoser runs a company providing agricultural services, in particular the cutting and threshing of corn, to farmers (Lohnmähdrescherei).

Staying in the industrious area of the Swabian Alb, there is also the Schoser business with probably the longest history. In Trochtelfingen, the Schoser ’fashion house’ has a history of over 130 years. Johannes Schoser used to weave cloth when, in 1877, he opened his own shop to trade and sell clothes. Today, the business still exists. It is run in the fourth generation by Bernhard Schoser and is bigger than ever before.

More recent is Achim Schoser’s business AS Telekommunikation in Ohmden. Since 1991, Achim designs and installs telecom systems to respond to the individual needs of small enterprises and liberal professions.
Haus Schmitz
In Karlsruhe, Schosers run a home for elderly people called Haus Schmitz. Together with his wife Ingrid, who inherited the home from her parents, Joachim Schoser is responsible for the well-being of about 250 elderly taken care of by 180 employees. Their son Mathias has also become part of the management team.

Across the Atlantic, Schosers are equally enterpreneurial. In Durango, Colorado, Tom Schoser owns and runs an auto repair shop. He has been in business since 1998 and may also have a used car on offer if you pass by 600, East 4th Avenue.
In San Diego, California, Michelle Schoser has worked as a free lance makeup artist and hair stylist. She looks back at a couple of years of experience and did already some work for different TV series.
